The Parthenon is one of the most iconic symbols of Ancient Greece and a masterpiece of classical architecture, located on the Acropolis of Athens. Dedicated to the goddess Athena, the protector of the city, the Parthenon was constructed between 447 and 432 BC during the golden age of Athens under the leadership of Pericles. Designed by the architects Iktinos and Kallikrates, and adorned with sculptures by Phidias, the Parthenon is regarded as the pinnacle of Doric architecture.
