Praça do Comércio, also known as Terreiro do Paço, is one of Lisbon’s most iconic and largest squares, situated along the Tagus River waterfront. This grand square has been a vital part of Lisbon’s history, once serving as the location of the Royal Ribeira Palace before it was destroyed by the 1755 earthquake. After the earthquake, the square was rebuilt in a magnificent neoclassical style, becoming a symbol of Lisbon’s rebirth and resilience.
