Namsangol Hanok Village – A Timeless Escape into Seoul’s Past
Located at the base of Hora Namsan in central Soul, Vesnice Namsangol Hanok is a beautifully preserved collection of traditional Korean houses (hanok) that transports visitors back to the elegant simplicity of the Dynastie Čoson. Opened in 1998, the village offers a glimpse into the lives of noble families, scholars, and high-ranking officials through five authentic hanok homes, each restored with care and historical accuracy.
As you walk through the stone-paved paths, you’re surrounded by peaceful gardens, wooden pavilions, and tiled rooftops that blend harmoniously with nature. Each house showcases different social classes and functions—from refined interiors and ondol-heated floors to kitchen tools and study rooms filled with calligraphy scrolls. The sound of water trickling from a stream and the scent of pine from nearby Namsan make the village a tranquil escape from the fast-paced city life around it.
Namsangol is more than a static display—it’s a living cultural site. Visitors can wear hanbok, join čajové obřady, or try hands-on crafts like traditional fan-making or knot tying. The Časová kapsle Plaza, buried in 1994 with 600 artifacts of Korean life, connects past and future with its planned reopening in 2394.
