Junghwajeon Hall stands proudly at the center of Deoksugung Palace in Seoul, South Korea, serving as its main throne hall and the very heart of royal ceremonies during the late Joseon Dynasty and the Korean Empire. Originally constructed in the 17th century and rebuilt in 1906 after a fire, Junghwajeon is a stunning example of traditional Korean palace architecture, with its elegant rooflines, vivid dancheong (decorative coloring), and symbolic dragon carvings signifying royal authority.
As the throne hall, Junghwajeon was the setting for important state affairs—royal audiences, proclamations, and diplomatic meetings.
