Huijeongdang – The Royal Office of Practical Power
Located within the elegant grounds of Changdeokgung Palace で ソウル, Huijeongdang served as the king’s executive office 中に 李朝. While Injeongjeon Hall was the formal throne room used for major state ceremonies, Huijeongdang was where real governance happened—where kings met ministers, read reports, and made critical decisions that shaped the kingdom.
Originally designed as a residence, Huijeongdang was later repurposed and expanded into a more practical workspace. After a fire in 1917, it was rebuilt with a unique blend of traditional Korean design and Western influences, including chandeliers, wooden floors, and glass windows—reflecting Korea’s modernization period and interaction with global trends during the early 20th century.
Surrounded by serene courtyards, stone steps, and the lush secret garden of Changdeokgung, Huijeongdang represents a rare and fascinating intersection of tradition and change, authority and daily responsibility. Its relatively understated exterior hides a rich interior where the real machinery of royal life once turned quietly but powerfully.
