Located in the Yongsan District of Soul, táto War Memorial of Korea stands as a powerful tribute to the nation’s turbulent history and the sacrifices made for its freedom. Opened in 1994 on the former site of South Korea’s Army Headquarters, it is not just a museum—it is one of the largest war memorials in the world, dedicated to preserving memory, educating future generations, and promoting peace.
The expansive complex includes indoor exhibitions, outdoor displays of military equipmenta memorial halls. Inside, visitors walk through detailed galleries that cover Korea’s military history from ancient times to the present, with a strong focus on the Korean War (1950–1953). Life-sized dioramas, archival footage, and personal artifacts bring historical events to life, offering emotional insight into the realities of war and the resilience of the Korean people.
Outside, the Statue of Brothers, symbolizing the reunion of two soldiers from the North and South, stands as a deeply moving representation of national division and hope for reunification. Rows of tanks, planes, and naval vessels line the memorial grounds, inviting visitors of all ages to explore and reflect.
