Located near the Kejserliga palatset in Tokyo’s Chiyoda district, Wadakura Fountain Park (often called Wadakura Fountain National Park) is a beautifully designed urban retreat where water, light, and minimalist elegance create a space of calm amidst the city’s buzz. Originally opened in 1961 to commemorate the wedding of Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, the park was later renewed in 1995 in honor of Emperor Akihito’s enthronement.
The park is known for its striking geometric fountains, graceful stone walkways, and seasonal plantings that reflect the essence of Japanese garden simplicity. By day, the water features shimmer under the sun; by night, they glow softly with light, offering a peaceful ambiance perfect for quiet walks, reflection, or photography.
